The Karachi police on Friday registered a murder case against Sindh home minister, and a close aide of President Asif Zardari, Dr Zulfikar Mirza, in connection with killing of two political activists in police firing last month.
The DIG Karachi East, Zafar Abbas Bukhari told newsmen that the FIR, which also included the name of SP Gadap Town, Rao Anwar Khan, had been lodged on the court orders. However, he did not elaborate as to whether the home minister would be arrested or not.
The FIR has been registered in connection with killing of Faraz Kalmati, and Ali Hassan Magsi, activists of Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party of DR Qadir Magsi in police firing during a protest demonstration at Super Highway, against arrival of displaced persons from Swat in Sindh.
The STPP leaders submitted an application with Sohrab Ghot police station nominating the Sindh home minister as an accused, however the police refused to lodge a FIR against their boss.
Later, the STPP filed a petition in district Malir court, led by district and session judge, Ghulam Mustafa Memon, which on Friday issued orders for registration of case against the home minister.
