The unfortunate accident that occurred more than 25 years ago which happened when the singer was filming a commercial for Pepsi at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, left him with serious burns.
The late entertainer was singing his hit song Billie Jean for a Pepsi Cola commercial when the “highly publicised” incident took place.
The footage, which surfaced for the first time this week, shows the singer’s hair being set alight by a pyrotechnic explosion.
Jackson, who was 25 at the time, was taken to hospital where he was treated for second degree burns to his scalp.
It has since been alleged the pop star became addicted to pain-killing medication as a result of the incident.
A spokeswoman for Pepsi told BBC that the drinks giant has no idea where “terrifying” footage of Michael Jackson’s hair catching fire in 1984 came from.
“We don’t know how the footage became available,” Nicole Bradley of Pepsi-Cola North America said in a statement.
“This was an unfortunate accident that occurred more than 25 years ago.”
“It was a terrifying event that we’ll never forget,” Bradley continued, saying Pepsi had been “deeply saddened” by his death last month.
“We were grateful for Michael’s recovery and for the chance to continue working with him on a number of successful projects.”

i am lina beltaief,bearing my mother’s name.my story begins on26june this year when i switched on tv on the mtv channel,i found the”world environment day”clip and underneath was written”good bye michel jackson”,i could not belive my eyes.
for me it was the biggest lie ever.he died on june25,2009.i felt gloomy and depressed.
ever since,i started reading about him and discovered many good things about our star.he was kind-hearted,tender and loved kids and animals.he was not a racist and he was highly sensitive.this affected me deeply and i swear that i have never felt so sad about the loss of someone as i have when i heard that michel jackson was dead.
i feel that he is not a human being but the perfect quintessence of humanity i am sending you this letter which is important for me and i greatly hope you will understand it and not consider it’s content as despicable and mean.
i am therefore requesting you to take him out of his grave and that you freeze his until i experiment upon him.i am a sensible person and when i was eleven in2003,i saved an old woman sick from cancer and i cured her with medical herbs.
i also treatod asterile woman who got a daughter afterwards could you please help me get in touch with the doctors.
basically,i would like you to get him out of his grave as soon as possible and sterilize as well as freeze his body.i have serious family problems so please try to keep the body frozen till i settle these problems and i am sure i can bring back the star to life.
