PM announces 3 months remission in sentences of prisoners

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has announced a remission of three months in the sentences of the prisoners who were not involved in heinous crimes in his visit to Adiala Jail during Eid ul Azha.

It must be mentioned that the President has approved the remission of three months on the advice of the Prime Minister.

FIR of Dr Aafia abduction registered

FIR of abduction of Dr Aafia and her daughter has been registered in Gulshan Iqbal police station Karachi.

According to details, Dr Aafia and her children were kidnapped on March 30 2003 and FIR against this has been lodge after the report of her sister Dr Fauzia. FIR no of incident is 773/09.

Home minister Sindh Dr Zulfiqar Mirza also constituted a joint investigative team under the supervision of DIG east Abdul Khaliq sheikh and SSP investigation Niaz khoso.

It is pertinent to merit here that Dr Afia case is also under trial in US court.

In this regard Dr Fauzia Siddiqui told this agency that she also got a copy of FIR, which was left by some body before her house. 9 Dec is the date of FIR written over it.

The Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been punched in the face at a rally in Milan. The premier was left to hospital with blood oozing from his lips and nose, according to eye witnessed.

Eye witnessed said that he fell to the ground after he was punched by un-known attacker and was holding an object on his hand.

Police has arrested that man.

The incident happened after the premier delivered a long, rousing speech to his conservative supporters.

The biggest bank robbery of Pakistan’s history, thieves looted 520 million rupees

The biggest bank robbery of the country’s history of Rs520 million has been carried out in the metropolitan city of Karachi.

The looted money comprises local and foreign currencies. A bag containing 40,000 British pounds has been recovered from a police official’s house. The family members of the police official had left the bag home which contained foreign currency.

According to police, the bank guards are involved in the bank robbery while raids are being carried out to arrest the other robbers.

Police has also taken into custody two bank guards.

Reshuffle in Federal Cabinet to take place in two steps

The fresh reshuffle in the Federal Cabinet will take place in two steps in which portfolio of ten Federal Ministers will be replaced or they will be sacked while nine state ministers will also be removed from their offices.

Official sources told that Chaudhary Aitzaz Ahsan has been offered the slot of Interior Minister while government has also given signal to make Safdar Abbasi part of the Federal Cabinet.

Meanwhile, Sources added that the prime minister has once again offered Senator Raza Rabbani the portfolio of the Minister for Law that is lying vacant, but he has rejected the government’s offer.

Reliable sources further told that regarding the fresh likely reshuffle in Federal Cabinet that first phase of reshuffle in Federal Cabinet will be held in the current month while the second phase of reshuffle in Federal Cabinet will take place in first week of February.

In the first phase ten Federal ministers will be removed or their portfolio will be replaced. Among these ten ministers the portfolio of Federal Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development, Humayun Aziz Kurd, Minister for State and Frontier Region, Najam ud Din Khan, Minister for Labour and Manpower, Syed Khursheed Shah, Atta ur Rehman and Raja Pervez Ashraf will be changed while Lal Muhammad Khan of Special Initiative, Shahid Hussain Bhutto of Youth Affairs, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri of Zakat and Ushr, Rana Farooq and Mumtaz Hussain Gilani will be removed from their office.

Among the state ministers, Arbab Muhammad Zahir, State minister for Defence, Rafique Ahmed Jamali of Food and Agriculture, Muhammad Tariq Anis of Housing and Works, Abdul Raziq of Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas, Masood Abbas of Local Government and Rural Development, Shagufta Jamani, Ghulam Fareed Kathia, Sardar Saleem Haider and Imtiaz Safdar Warriach will also be sacked.

Ulema exchange hot words amid a meeting in CM Secretariat

Two Ulema groups of different schools of thoughts exchanged hot words amid meeting of “Ittihad-e-Banul-Muslimeen” which was held here at Chief Minister Secretariat to review law and order situation ahead of Muharram-ul-Harram.

Private TV Channel reported that two groups of Ulema from different schools of thought exchange hot words when one group protested the incident of degrading portrait of Hazrat Umar (RA) in Bahwalpur last year. And the group boycotted the meeting.

This has created total chaos and disorder amid the meeting. Senior Advisor Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa was presiding over the meeting.

Int’l agencies warns suicide attack during Muharram in major cities

The intelligence agencies have dispatched a report to federal interior ministry and home ministries of all the Provinces, warning terrorists and suicide attacks on the occasion of Muharram-ul-Haraam.

In order to stop infiltration of terrorists into Dera Ismail Khan, Orakzai agency, Bannu and Kurram agency from Afghanistan, Pak-Afghan Turkham border would remain seal during Muharram and additional troops would be deployed there, sources informed Online on Sunday.

The intelligence agencies in their report has asked federal interior secretary and home secretaries of all the Province that the terrorists activities with collusion of agencies of neighboring country during Muharram can not be ruled out, sources added.

The intelligence agencies have recommended strict security arrangements during Muharram.

Pakistan beats its archrival India in the semi final match of Champions Hockey Challenge Cup with a high margin of 3 goals, green shirts score 6 goals in the match.

Pakistan will face New Zealand in the final match on Sunday. New Zealand reached the final after beating Argentine with 3-2.

Belgium, New Zealand, Argentina, Pakistan, Canada, China, India and South Africa were participated in the event whose winner will qualify for the next year’s Champions Trophy.

The whole Pakistani team was looking as united as it was expecting to be and defeating Indian team in this match looked very easy for them.

Rehan Butt scored 3, Sohail Abbas 2 and Haseem Khan added one goal to Pakistan score as Pakistan managed to take lead in the 3rd minute of the first half – thanks to Rehan Butt, but it was equalized soon in the 8th minute when Indian team took the advantage of penalty corner.

Rehan Butt and Sohail Abbas again brought Pakistan on the driving seat with back-to-back goals in 29th and 32nd minute of the match taking lead to 3-1 at the close of first half.

The beginning of the second half was too lucky for Pakistan as the team succeeded to make two more goals and took the lead to 5-1, but late India got momentum, scoring two more goals and reducing Pakistan lead to 5-3.

At the dying moments of the match, it was the penalty corner specialist – Sohail Abbas, who added one more goal on the penalty stroke, which remained decisive until the match was finished.

The final event of the tournament will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand hockey teams.

The team officials while talking to media said that no one could now stop them to winning.
