Jub two stars met: Shoaib Malik to marry Sania Mirza in April

Pakistani Cricket Star and Former Captain of Pakistani cricket team Shoaib Malik, is all set to marry the Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, claimed by local TV channels of Pakistan.

The TV channels said that the mother of Shoaib Malik has met the family of Sania Mirza, and proposed her for her son. The channels also claimed that Sania’s family has accepted the proposal and the two families are all set to engage the two S’s soon.

The channel quoted the sources of Shoaib’s family and said that engagement ceremony between Shoaib and Sania are expected to be in next month.

Both Sania and Shoaib are one time engaged in the past but their engagements could not last long.


Joint Sitting of Parliament postponed

The Joint sitting of Parliament, which was slated to be held today (Friday), has been postponed due to differences between Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and Awami National Party (ANP) over new nomenclature for the NWFP.

On the other hand, representative of different political parties, who was also scheduled to sign the draft of the constitutional reforms bill Thursday at a meting of Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms (PCCR) was also postponed and it is expected that they would sign the bill today (Friday) at a simple ceremony, sources informed Online.

The committee members also expressed annoyance over PML-N after it failed to sort out issue with regard to renaming of NWFP. They adopted a stance that PML-N wants to sabotage PCCR and despite promises PML-N has withdrawn its stance over new nomenclature for the NWFP

Online when contacted a Spokesperson of the National Assembly Secretariat as saying the Assembly Secretaries has not received summary from Presidency with regard to summoning of joint sitting of Parliament but we had been orally asked to finalize arrangements in this respect.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani while talking to media men after a ceremony also admitted that he has not received a summary with regard to summoning of joint sitting of Parliament so far.


Pakistani Punjab Police used the logo of Indian Police in advertisement

The police of Punjab Pakistan in one of their advertisement mistakenly used the logo of Indian Punjab Police.

According to the reports of a local TV channel, in an advertisement issued from the Pakistan Punjab Police in which they asked the people of Pakistan to help ending terrorism, they published Indian Punjab Police logo at the end of that advertisement.

It is not yet clear who is responsible of this severe mistake and whether this mistake was intentional or unintentional.

Few months back Indian authorities have also made a mistake by publishing the former Pakistani Air Chief picture in one of their government advertisement.


Zardari announces to donates his whole body for cause of organ transplant

President Asif Ali Zardari has announced to donate his whole body for the cause of organ transplantation; being the first President to donate his entire body.

Addressing the ceremony after signing the Human organ and tissues transplant bill 2010 in Presidency here on Wednesday, the President said that there was a strong need to take strict actions against those who sell human organs.

He said that there was a need of creating awareness regarding donating the human organs, and also urged of the doctors to play positive role for the sake of their own country.

He said that by using the latest technology in the country they should ensure bright future.

He said that government was following the policies of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto adding that after strengthening of democracy in the country people would get more awareness.

He said that serving the humanity was priority of PPP led government and they would ensure to provide every facility to the people.


PHF not to accept resignations of hockey players: Jakhrani

Federal Minister for Sports Ijaz Jakhrani has said that Pakistan Hockey Federation should not accept resignations of Pakistani Hockey players which had tenderd their resignations following their poor performance in the recent Hockey World Cup.

Ijaz Jakhrani while talking to media persons after meeting with President Pakistan Hockey Federation Qasim Zia and Pakistan Hockey players on Tuesday, said that match fixing in Hockey is very difficult and Pakistani team was under pressure after loosing its first match against India. He said that despite Sports Ministry, PHF would decide Asif Bajwa’s future.

The Sports Minister said that he personally met each and every player of Pakistani Hockey team except Captain Zeeshan Ashraf, adding that he was briefed in meeting about combined resignation, poor performance of players, and coordination between team management and players during Hockey World Cup.

Mr. Jakhrani said that main reasons behind defeat in World Cup was that after loosing first match against India Pakistani team came under pressure and shortage of tournaments against European team was the second main reason behind our defeat.

He further said that after meeting with players and team management we have not found any evidence, which show that matches were fixed, adding that he would meet and consult with former Olympians for the uplift of hockey.

Mr. Shakeel Abbsi and Rehan Butt while talking to media expressed that all players have accepted responsibility of poor performance in world cup and as response tendered their resignations while there was no dispute between team management and players. They further said that they would accept President PHF decision about them.


PML-Q MPA presents her ‘dopatta’ to CM Punjab over his statement about Taliban

NWFP Assembly on Monday witnessed uproar on the statement of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif in which he reportedly appealed to Taliban not to target Punjab with terror attacks.

Members from Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) and other groups severely condemned the CM Punjab’s statement and termed it the violation of Pakistan’s Constitution and against the national interest.

PML-Q MPA Nighat Orakzai said on the floor of the house that “if Sharif says the Taliban should not carry out attacks only in Punjab she’ll present her ‘dopatta’ to him.” She asked CM Punjab to apologize from the people of NWFP for his statement.


TTP claims the responsibility of twin Lahore bombings

The proscribed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed the responsibility for twin Lahore bombings that claimed the lives of 39 people and wounded 95 others on Friday.

The blasts took place near R A Bazaar at 12:48 pm within the space of 15 seconds as crowds gathered for Friday prayers. The blasts were so powerful that it caused cracks in nearby buildings besides shattering window panes.

On the other hand the heads of both alleged bombers were recovered from the scene of the blasts while two suspects were also arrested, the Inspector General of Punjab Tariq Salim Dogar told reporters after the blasts.

“We have collected concrete technical evidence, which will help identify the attackers. Both the attackers were on foot,” the IGP said.

Five security men were dead and 15 others were wounded in the bombings, sources cloe to security agencies said.


Karachi police files Ulemas’ killing case against renowned analyst Zaid Hamid

Karachi Police has filed Ulemas’ killing case against notable analyst Zaid Hamid and also issued identity sketch of culprits, accomplice in firing on Maulana Saeed Ahmed Jalal Puri and his son.

SHO Sachhal Police station Asif Jhakrani said that Police team went to Banori Town Masjid with case registering register and at the application of kin of Maulana Saeed Ahmed Jalal Puri filed case against notable analyst Zaid Hamid, as he used to issue threats against deceased Maulana over mobile phone.

Karachi Police also recorded the statements from eyewitnesses who had seen the firing attack at Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem and in accordance of the information from eyewitnesses issued the identity sketch of the assassin.

Police sources further disclosed that according to preliminary investigation with eyewitnesses, the attackers were wearing trousers and shirts, while one attacker was also masked to protect himself from smoke and according to the identity sketch of police the attackers looked like resident of northern areas.


Bill Gates no longer the World’s richest man, Mexican telecom tycoon grabs the title

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is no longer the world’s richest man according to the annual Forbes magazine list released Tuesday, but it’s not like he’s going to have to go crawling back for his old job either.

Mexican telecom tycoon Carlo Slim Helu beat out Gates, last year’s top billionaire, with a fortune worth $53.5 billion. Slim’s rise this past year was fueled by growth in mobile telecom giant America Movil, which saw a 35% share price increase over the past year. Slim owns a $23 billion stake in the company, according to Forbes.

Gates, who has refocused his career on charitable endeavors, is now worth $53 billion. While he slipped a notch on the Forbes list, his fortune actually rose by $13 billion on the strength of a climbing Microsoft stock price.
