No action against Pak families till full investigation, says Saudi envoyOutgoing Saudi envoy to Pakistan Ali Saeed Awadh Asseri has made it clear that no action would be taken against Pakistani families detained in Saudi Arabia for their alleged involvement in drug smuggling till completion of investigation.
During meeting with relatives of detained persons on drug charges, he assured them the innocent people would not get punishment adding that the investigation could take time. Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Ghouri was also present in the meeting.
The relatives of affected families thanked the Saudi Envoy to Pakistan for cooperation with them. Talking to media men after the meeting, Federal Minister for Ports and shipping Babar Ghouri has said that the Saudi envoy has been requested to stop prosecution till completion of investigation in to case.
He said Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has taken notice of the issue and Foreign Ministry and Pakistani consulate is also taking steps for release of Pakistan families held in S. Arabia. He said 8 people were arrested out of which 5 belong to same family and 4 KG heroin was recovered from their possession.
Answering to a question, he said, Pakistan consulate in Saudi Arabia would assist the affected families and would also coordinate with their relatives in Pakistan.
He went on to say outgoing Saudi envoy to Pakistan Ali Saeed Awadh Asseri has assured justice would be meted out to Pakistani families held in Saudi Arabia but he demanded arrest of real culprits.
Replying to another question, the minister said, he held talks with Saudi Envoy on the special directives of Party Quaid Altaf Hussain.
