SMS tax to be withdraw soon: Minister of Finance
Federal Minister of Finance Shaukat Tareen has said that he hopes that Prime Minister of Pakistan will also withdraw the tax imposed on text messages like he ordered to withdraw Carbon Tax imposed on CNG.
He said that the Tax was not imposed to put burden on cell users but it actually imposed because the government has reduced the rates of GST and activation charges.
The government of Pakistan has increased the rates of text messages by imposing twenty percent extra tax on each SMS message in the Federal Budget of 2009-10 and all the cell users have been protested against this act and demanded to withdraw this tax.
Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said the tax on SMS is actually a burden on cell users, the government, instead of imposing taxes on Pakistani people, should imposed tax on Mobile Industry which has earned bundle of money from their customers.
He said that if government has imposed tax to take revenge of those SMS messages which are against Asif Ali Zardari and his government then this is not right; in democracy these acts are not allowed.
He said that instead putting load on People government should minimize their own expenditures.
