PM lauds nation, soldiers and journalists for their unprecedented supports against militants
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has commended the role of Pakistan army, soldiers, NWFP Government and the journalists for their unprecedented support against the war against terrorism.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Governor House in Peshawar. Governors NWFP, Owais Ahmad Ghani and Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and Federal Information Minister, Qamar Zaman Kaira were also present on the occasion.
While answering the questions, Prime Minister appreciated the role of Pakistan army, police and law enforcing agencies for bravely fighting against the militants.
He also appreciated the unprecedented support of the Journalists and assured that government will set up trust for the every possible support and welfare of the families of those journalists who have lost their lives in this mission.
Prime Minister also announced an amount of Rs.1.5 million for the Peshawar Press Club. He said that bereaved family of journalist will be given aid of Rs.2 million, besides advising Chief Minister to provide every possible security to journalists.
Prime Minister said that government would not hold dialogues with militants at any cost. He said that entire nation supported army operation, and said that government had declared head money for militants like Baitullah Mehsud, while Some of the militants’ leadership has been arrested and killed as well.
He said that government did not favor a conflict at every nook and corner of Country. ” “It is not acceptable to government that militants carry out bomb blasts at various places and then blatantly claim them. Government will not accept this, ” he added.
Prime Minister said that establishing writ of the government was the top priority of the incumbents. “After military operation in the areas we have to carried out rehabilitation work and strengthened the local and civil government”, he maintained.
Prime Minister also assured to provide amount of Rs. 6 billion for the rehabilitation of the IDPs, by providing good governance and improving local security forces system.
While replying to a question about the timeline of security forces operation in Swat, Prime Minister said that operation was not the solution of the issue, however, militants had challenged the writ of government i.e government have to carry out operation against them.
He assured that operation government was trying its best to wrap up operation as soon as possible and to ensure early return of the IDPs to their respective villages.
While talking about the relief, rehabilitation of IDPs and reconstruction of operation affected areas he said that government had allocated an amount of Rs.50 billion in this connection while aid received through the pledges made by FODP (Friends of Democratic Pakistan) is additional. Prime Minister said that people are also helping IDPs which is commendable.
Earlier, Prime Minister said that his visit to Peshawar was aimed at receiving and reviewing a briefing on the law and order situation, and relief activities at IDPs camps besides his 3-D policy.
