PPP against creation of new province, says PM
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has strongly rejected creation of new province adding creation of new Province is tantamount to destabilizing Pakistan
“Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is against creation of new Province because it is tantamount to destabilizing Pakistan. There are 4 provinces and would remain four, he said this while talking to media men after participation in a first convocation of Islamabad Model College Girl F-10/2.
He made it clear Taliban militants would not be allowed to intrude in Pakistan from Afghanistan after a massive US offensive against them in Southern Afghanistan.
“During meeting with French delegation we have asked them to play their role to stop infiltration of Taliban from Afghanistan to Pakistan”, he said.
Reply to another question, he said, militants have been flushed out from Malakand and army cantonments would be setup in Dir and Swat to stop entry of militants there in future. Government, he said, is committed to root out terrorism and extremis. Good Governance would be established in the areas after end of military offensive, Gilani said.
The army is rendering sacrifices for better future of Pakistan, he said. When asked about his meeting with Indian counterpart in Sharm-ul-Shiekh, he said, Pakistan always wanted to have cordial relations with neighboring countries including India and he hoped his meeting with Dr. Manmohan Singh would be constructive. “I would express Pakistan’s desire to have peace with India during meeting with Indian Premier, he said.
Earlier, addressing the ceremony, the education of women is vital for country’s development. The women have always played a grater role in country’s development, he said, adding that, educational budget has been increased in budget for financial year of 2009-10. Paying tribute to women of Malakand division, he said, they have rendered sacrifices for Pakistan’s better future. The whole national values sacrifices rendered by women of war affected areas, Gilani said.
He said no nation can join group of develop countries without achieving goal of 100 literacy rate and our government is taking step to increase literacy rate. The Premier also distributed certificate and prizes among students who have cleared their BA and BSC examinations.
