Baitullah dead, Fazlullah injured: Asfandyar Wali Khan
Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has said Baitullah Mehsud has died in drone attack and Moulvi Fazlullah is critically injured adding latter is however in Pakistan.
“To my information Baitullah has expired in drone attacks and Moulvi Fazlullah from Swat is seriously injured. But he is still in Pakistan”, ANP chief said this during a press briefing after party consultative meeting. Chief Minister NWFP, Amir Haider Khan Hoti and others were also present on the occasion.
He held differences were there among Taliban groups over the issue of succession of Baitullah Mehsud and they were engaged in infighting.
Terrorism and extremism had posed serous threats to Pakistan, he said adding terrorism was not the issue of NWFP only but it was the issue of the whole country. One is mistaken if one thinks this fire can not spill across the river Sindh into Punjab, he warned.
He demanded all the dictators including Pervez Musharraf and their associates should be held accountable. The politicians who supported dictators committed a betrayal with the country. 37 ordinances, which were promulgated by former president Pervez Musharraf must be presented in the parliament, he stressed.
Regarding NRO, he said he had not benefited from it as it was a discriminatory law and some specific persons were favored through it. In the prevailing situation beneficiaries of NRO had also turned against it, he noted.
Government had not taken his party into confidence with reference to FCR, he said adding even a single recommendations from ANP had not been incorporated in new law. Therefore, we don’t accept such decisions where in we are not taken on board, he announced.
The problems facing Balochistan and NWFP would not come to end with the scrapping of 17th amendment, he held. All the political forces of the country should bring a comprehensive package, he stressed.
Moreover majority of the members of ANP expressed reservations in consultative meeting of the party that federal government had not taken ANP into confidence in connection with annulment of FCR. They asked party leadership to hold meeting with president Asif Ali Zardari and prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani in this respect.
