Afghanistan goes to polls today

Presidential elections would be held in Afghanistan under the tight security arrangements here today
(Thursday).

Twenty two candidates would contest in these election. Presidential elections would be held in Afghanistan where the country has a total population of twenty five million in which more than one million voters would cast their votes.

6800 polling stations has been established in 34 provinces of the country ballot boxes and other equipment has been provided at the polling stations .
Polling would continue from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm with out any break.
More than 200,000 security personals would be deployed to control law and order during these elections .

100,000 personals from NATO forces and one and half from Afghan National Army and Police would be deployed .

Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah are the most strong candidates for these elections.

More than three thousand candidate would appear for 420 seat of the provincial council. These elections would be held on Thursday.

388 female candidates would also participate in these elections.

In this regard Pak-Afghan border has also been sealed for two days.
