Six including three policemen injured in blast in Rawalpindi
At least seven person including four policemen injured in a blast at a security checkpoint at Masrayal road in Rawalpindi Cant area on Thursday night.
The incident took place at Masrayal road near Burf Khana Chowk. The Rescue 1122 teams rushed the spot and shifted the injured to the nearby hospital. Two of the injured are reported in critical condition.
Soon after the incident DIG Rawalpindi Rao Iqbal and CCPO Rawalpindi visited the spot to investigate the matter. Bomb disposal squad also arrived at the sport and collected clues and evidences.
Private TV Channel reports said that police and investigative agencies were facing severe difficulties due to presence of large number of bystanders.
Eyewitness told that he heard sound of blast. After blast there was smoke. There were three policemen on duty. It was not a car. The eyewitness claimed that the blast occurred on motorbike.
He said that he busy in collecting water and preparing food for the policemen deputed at the checkpoint.
He said that when he heard the sound of blast, he was shocked. He said that all the three policemen got injured.
Meanwhile, the security in twin-cities especially in Federal Capital has been put on high alert after the incident following the blast in Rawalpindi.
Another eyewitness told that several vehicles and motorbikes damaged in the blast. He said that the area is not too much congested. The road is also not busy. It was attempt on police to cause maximum damage, he added.
Meanwhile, DIG Rao Iqbal avoided to talk to media but said that it may be hand grenade or planted bomb.
