Mastermind behind assassination attempt on Kazmi arrested

Police have arrested the mastermind behind assassination attempt on Federal Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi in Islamabad from Southern Punjab.

Abdul Kareem, the mastermind behind murder attempt on Hamid Saeed Kazmi was arrested from Rojhan, Southern Punjab while his associates were arrested from Dera Ghazi Khan, Private TV Channel reported.

The arrest of main culprit has been made with the help of machinegun which he threw away some yards away from the site after attacking on federal minister.

Abdul Kareem who belongs to banned organization was wanted by Police in many cases and he along with his associates has been shifted to Islamabad for further investigation, sources said.

On September 02, some unknown assailants riding a motorcycle repeatedly fire at the official vehicle of Federal Hamid Saeed Kazmi, injuring him and his gunman while killing his driver. The incident took place in broad daylight just a few yards from his office and the Aabpara Police station.

On the directives of Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Inspector General Islamabad Capital Territory Police Syed Kaleem Imam had constituted a joint investigation team headed by DIG operation Baniyameen for investigation into assassination attempt on Federal Religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi

On September 09, Muhammad Ashraf, gunman of the Federal Religious affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi succumbed to his injures in Pakistan institute of medical sciences after medical treatment of 6 days.
