20 die, 33 injured as bus plunges into ravine
At least 20 people died and 33 others wounded when a passenger bus plunged into 1000ft deep ravine on Wednesday.
Private TV Channel reported that the passenger bus carrying 60 to 70 passengers was on its way from Muzaffarabad to Duban. Unfortunately, it went out of the control of driver and plunged into a 1000 feet deep ravine at Daggari while negotiating treacherous sharp turn.
Eyewitnesses told that incident occurred due to overloading as most of the passengers were returning to their homes after Eid Shopping.
As a result 20 passengers died on the spot while 33 other sustained serious and minor injuries.
The injured were identified as Abdul Ghafoor s/o Bashir, Naeem s/o Wali Khan, Asad s/o Fakir Khan, Mars Zafar, Khuttija, Munir, Jan Dad, Muhammad Arif, Mohammad Alam, Moazzam Jan, Mrs. Mir Alam, Bahadur, Jehangir s/o Rustam, Noor Zaman s/o Mir Zaman, Mir Hussain Shah, Suleman, Qazi Rashid, Qazi Manzoor while the name of the two deceased are yet to be ascertained.
Muzaffarabad Police told that there were around 50 passengers who boarded the bus. As soon as the locals of the area got news about the incident, they rushed the spot and retrieved the dead bodies from the bus and shifted the injured to the local hospital.
