7 injured in suicide blast at police picket, 2 suicide bombers killed
Two suicide bombers were killed and seven others persons including two police official injured in a suicide attack at police check point near Babu Sabu Interchange in Lahore on Monday evening.
The suicide blast occurred at the checkpoint set up at the end of Islamabad-Lahore Motorway at Lahore’s entrance point.
On Monday, when the police personnel deputed at the checkpoint near Babu Sabu interchange tried to stop a suspected white Mehran, it rammed the checkpoint, eye witnessed said.
As a result, two suicide bombers got killed on the spot while seven other persons, out of which four were civilian; one traffic warden and two police personnel were injured in the attack, and were taken to services hospital.
Total of eight vehicles including two passengers’ buses were damaged in the attack.
Police sources have told that the severed head of one of the suicide bombers has been found and was aged between 18-20 years.
Meanwhile, bomb disposal squad and rescue teams rushed to the spot, where the bomb disposal squad defused the remaining explosive in the vehicle and told that 10 to 12 kilograms explosive was used in the attack.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari have condemned the suicide blast in Lahore.
Talking to media CCPO Lahore, Pervez Rathore has confirmed that 15 persons were injured in the attack; seven of them, seriously.
He said that it was possible that the vehicle used in the attack may have fake number plate.
He said that severed limbs of the suicide bombers have been sent to laboratory for further investigations.
