President, PM considering seriously dissolving the whole cabinet

Dissolution of the entire cabinet is being considered seriously by president and prime minister owing to opposition from certain federal ministers with regard to reshuffling in the cabinet.

Official sources said the meeting of cabinet, which is being held under the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani today, can be the last meeting of the cabinet.

Sources told that majority of the state ministers gave proposal in their meeting held here under president Asif Ali Zardari to dissolve the whole cabinet rather than removing some state ministers. They were of the view that the party would be divided if some ministers are removed as they would consider it a discrimination against them.

Talking to a private TV channel, minister of state for ports and shipping Nabeel Gabol had confirmed the report that ministers had suggested during their meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari that the entire cabinet be dissolved.

Official sources told certain ministers have formed a group in the cabinet following the decision by the prime minister for reshuffling the cabinet. Therefore, the president and prime minister have started considering the decision seriously to dissolve the whole cabinet.

On the other side the federal ministers and state ministers whose performance has been considered unsatisfactory are Sardar Saleem Haider, Rafiq Jamali, Tariq Anees, Humayun Aziz Kurd, Israr Ullah Zehri, Najmud Din Khan, Lal Khan, Shahid Hussain Bhutto, Noor ul Haq Qadri, Arbab Zahir, Abdul Razzaq, Masood Abbas and Jam Mangrio.

It was decided to dissolve their ministries and merge them into other ministries. It was also decided in principal to reduce the number of cabinet members from 55 to 30 or 35 so that expenses could be curtailed. The ministers who are facing corruption charges will not be taken in the cabinet again.
